XYLELLA

Xylella_edited.jpg

Xylella is an idea that comes from a reasoning. The project takes its name from that bacterium that caused the death of millions of olive trees in southern Italy, causing irreparable damage.
Initially our intent was to find a way not to send the timber of the dead olive trees "wasted", but another thought immediately followed. Xylella killed the olive tree but not the beauty that resides in its shape. What would have really killed this beauty would have been the use of its wood. This reflection made our creative process take another direction.
The main question was no longer about how to use dead wood, but about how, through design, keep the memory and beauty of a lifeless shape, giving it back a new meaning and therefore a new way of existing.
